Is Yoga Safe To Do During Pregnancy?

Yoga

Prenatal yoga is an excellent way to learn techniques that make birthing more comfortable. Every yoga pose is adapted for your pregnant body, no matter where you are in that journey.

It allows you to learn how to best adjust to the physical demands of pregnancy. The goal is to calm both your mind and body to relieve physical and emotional stress. It is also a great way to meet other amazing people who are in the same season of life that you!

Yoga And Pregnancy

Pregnancy yoga allows you to center, connect, and focus on your mind and your body. You learn new ways to relax, breathe, and meditate. Ultimately helping prepare you for BIG day.

At Orchid Nest, our nest should feel like home to you. In our “class womb” you will find a supportive refuge from the outside world.

You will:

Be Empowered

Learn & understand more about yourself throughout your pregnancy

Find Balance

Learn to balance your mind & body through relaxing meditation and body postures

Create A Deep Connection

Learn to connect with your mind, your body, your baby & everyone around you

Breathe & Relax

Learn the connection between your breath and stress

Improve Strength

Learn to master relaxing and challenging yoga poses

There are a few key things to keep in mind before taking your first or next prenatal yoga class. That includes:

Drink Water

When doing yoga while pregnant, it is crucial that you stay hydrated. If it feels right for you and your baby to have water during yoga, then drink away!

Focus On Connecting To Your Breath

Each and every class, you will learn how to become in tune with your breathing. This helps calm the mind and the central nervous system which is why it is so important for labor.

Focus on having smooth, even breaths. Matching the length of each inhale with every exhale.

Be Mindful Of Over Stretching

When you are pregnant, it is much easier to pull a muscle by overdoing a stretch.

Always focus on stability and less on flexibility.

Protect Your Vena Cava

Try not to lay on your back for too long since it may cut off circulation to your vena cava.

The vena cava is the vein that is responsible for delivering un-oxygenated blood to your heart.

Taking the time to nurture and connect with yourself while pregnant is one of the most rewarding feelings. At Orchid Nest, our prenatal yoga classes are ALL about support and connecting.
